Class apart…

Now, that I call a big slap and the poor chap to face that is non other than me. As I heard Mr.Amir Khan is creating his first movie, I got excited. I always wanted to watch these talented actors to direct someday. I just heard the name and then long after came to know the concept, I got depressed. I expected more of art than of social service from Mr.Khan.

I watched Tare Zameen Par today and believe me I got my slap, a big one. I don’t remember when was the last time I cried, may be when I and she parted after college, but when Ishaan ran to his mentor after receiving his award for the best painting, my eyes got filled and hairs on my body gave a standing ovation to it. TZP is a revelation for Amir, for movies on children, for parents of India and most importantly for Indian film industry. Never before in India have child emotions been shown in such details and mildness. Film consists of very simple scenes and every nuance of them touches your heart. It generally is very easy to create sympathetic and conscious scenes with children as whatever they do will amuse you. But TZP went a step further; it will recreate your childhood in front of you. I not only saw with a happy heart but in many scenes I could see myself there in place of Ishaan. Scene where Ishaan was looking outside to a water filled hole in a road with sunlight reflecting of it and every material movement on it is creating different type of ripples and colors while all class is busy listening to the teacher, reminds me of many instances from my childhood where mere nonsensical happenings matter most than ABCD…

It is the development of the characters and story as the reason which takes this movie leagues ahead of the rest. Amir has shown that he strives perfection not only in his self but to anything he does. Starting from all the special effects, to each painting, to each dialogue everything was there for some reason, nothing was just put to fill up the gap.

I think if we praise Amir for the venture than 60-70 percent of the share should also go to Mr.Amol Gupte, the creative director and writer. It is his brainchild which Amir put colors into. The amount of research he has made is evident throughout the movie.

As far as the acting goes, Ishaan is one character who is going to come to your eyes next time you will see a kid playing with all stained up, creating mischief, crying, laughing his heart out. Darsheel Safry’s acting is a matter of class art. And with him is the guide of acting encyclopedia, Amir himself. The scene where Amir makes Ishaan’s father read Chinese to realize his fault in understanding his child’s stupidity is one of the best scenes of recent times.

This film made me write again, as I could not hold my emotions to be told to. TZP is a piece of art which eventually radiates so many messages. This one should be shown to the rest of the world, let them see that we don’t only create high school musicals but also non-political, clean and clear drama which actually change lives, they could only document of.

As a whole, I must say, Amir’s TZP is class apart…
